For small law firms · 1–20 attorneys

New clients call while you're in court.

At a small firm, the people who answer the phone are often the same people drafting, filing and appearing in court. Calls go to voicemail, intake notes sit in an inbox, and follow-ups depend on memory. We build AI systems that answer inbound calls, run intake, prepare first drafts and keep follow-ups moving.

Where the work slips

Intake shouldn't wait for a free hour.

People usually contact a lawyer when something has just gone wrong, and if nobody picks up, the next firm on their list is one call away. Then comes the work after the call: conflict checks, engagement letters, document requests and follow-ups, fitted in between everything else.

The research

In Clio's 2024 secret-shopper study of 500 law firms, only 40% answered the phone and just 33% responded to emails.

Sound familiar?

  • A caller reaches voicemail during a hearing and never calls back.
  • Intake details are split across a web form, an email thread and a sticky note.
  • Engagement letters and routine correspondence are retyped from the last matter.
  • Prospective clients who haven't signed hear nothing after the first call.
Good fit if

Your attorneys or staff answer the phones between other work, intake runs through more than one inbox, or follow-up depends on someone remembering to do it.

What we build

Workflows we build for law firms.

Each one starts from the tools you already use: your phone line, email, calendar and practice management system. You choose what runs on its own and what waits for a person.

Inbound call answering

An AI receptionist answers the calls your team can't get to, takes the caller's details and a short description of the matter, and sends them to the right person. Legal questions go to an attorney.

Intake in one place

Web forms, emails and call notes become one intake record in your practice management system or CRM, with names checked against your existing contacts so an attorney can review possible conflicts.

First drafts from your templates

Engagement letters, routine correspondence and standard documents drafted from your own templates and the matter details, and returned as Word documents for an attorney to review.

Follow-up that doesn't rely on memory

Prospective clients who haven't signed get follow-up emails on a schedule you set, and you get an alert when an inquiry hasn't had a reply.

Document collection

Requests for the documents each matter needs, reminders until they arrive, and every file saved to the right matter folder.

Answers from your own files

A private assistant that searches your firm's documents and email, answers in plain English, names its sources and keeps each client's material separate.

How it works

Four steps, one at a time.

  1. 01

    Free, 30 minutes

    Discovery call

Tell us about the work taking too much time. We ask questions, answer yours honestly, and say plainly whether AI is likely to help.

  2. 02

    A written plan

    Blueprint

If there is a real opportunity, we look closely at your workflows, tools and goals, and turn them into a plan: what to build first, what it involves, and what it would take.

  3. 03

    Spec first, then build

    Build

We agree on exactly what the system will do before we build it, show you working pieces along the way, and fit it into the tools your team already uses.

  4. 04

    Keep it working

    Care

Once it is live, we can monitor it, adjust it as your business changes, and plan the next system when there is an obvious next one.

Questions

Straight answers for law firms.

Will an AI give legal advice to our callers?

That isn't its job. The receptionist collects the caller's contact details and a description of the matter and passes them to your team. Advice, conflict decisions and whether to take the matter stay with your attorneys, and you agree what it says before anything goes live.

How is client confidentiality handled?

We connect with read-only access wherever the job allows, keep your data in accounts you control, and can keep each client's material separate. Files that should never be read by an AI are excluded in code, not just by habit. You decide what the system is allowed to see.

Can it work with our practice management software?

Often, yes, if the software offers a way to connect. We check your tools early and tell you plainly if one makes something harder than it should be.

Will it send anything to clients without us seeing it?

Not unless you decide it should. By default, anything consequential goes to a person for approval first, and you choose what the system is allowed to do on its own.

Do we need someone technical on our side?

No. Most of the businesses we talk to don't have one. You bring the knowledge of how the business runs; we handle the engineering, and we show the people who will use the system day to day how it works.

What does it cost?

The discovery call is free. If there is a real opportunity, the next step is a fixed-price Blueprint: a written plan for what to build first. Anything beyond that is quoted once we both understand the scope, because scope is the only honest basis for a build price.
